On Wednesday October 6 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Acart’s Cause Loop invites you to stop by our Inspirosphere for your morning coffee (or tea) and some homemade baked treats in exchange for a donation towards Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN).
Every month or so, Acart’s Cause Loop, adopts a cause with the goal of engaging us as employees, and as community members, to take action and generate awareness about certain issues. Since October is breast cancer awareness month we opted to fundraise for the Canadian Breast Cancer Network—the only national survivor-driven and survivor-focused breast cancer organization in Canada.
In early August we were asked by CBCN to host a coffee break in our office. Instead of running out to our favourite coffee shops for our morning coffee, we would ask employees to have a cup of the company’s coffee and make a donation. Knowing that 1 in 9 Canadian women are expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime and 1 in 28 will die of it. We had to do more.
To add to CBCN’s activity and expand the reach of our initiative, we decided to create a limited edition cookbook. Each employee was invited to contribute to the book—affectionately named Tidbits—by either submitting a recipe or creating a doodle. The book is an eclectic collection of delicious treats. Copies of Tidbits can be had during the month of October for a minimum donation of $5. Each copy sold supports Canadian breast cancer survivors.
On October 6, stop by Acart for you morning coffee and pick up you copy of Tidbit! For more information send us an email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our activity would not be complete without the help of local partners. Gilmore Printing is taking care of the printing of Tidbits, and Bridgehead is supplying the coffee. Thank you.
